Terrestar to challenge Solaris decision

It is only a couple of weeks since the EU awarded the licences for the S Band satellite service over Europe to the providers Solaris and Inmarsat, who will be providing satellite services all over Europe.

The two failed licence applicants, ICO Global and TerreStar Europe, said that they would be considering taking legal action over the decision, and now it seems that TerreStar has taken this challenge a step further by filling a legal suit.

The S Band licence will be used for broadcasting TV to mobile devices.

TerraStar argues that the EU excluded it on a technicality.

It claims that the EU misread its submission and therefore the application was thrown out before TerraStar had a chance to get its point across.
