These days, people are getting more and more conscious in trying to save our planet. According to Hitwise, a web traffic analyst, web searches regarding the recycling of old mobile phones, have increased by 205 percent since April 2008.
And, as the title says, Britons are number one in recycling old and used mobile phones. It might be because they are getting more environment conscious or it could also be the promise of financial returns.
Envirofone, Mazuma Mobile, and Fonebank , all of which offer financial incentives up to US$324(£200) in return for the old handsets were the three most popular mobile phone recycling sites with web surfers in the UK.
UK Internet searches for terms such as ‘recycle mobile phones for cash’ and ‘recycling for cash’ have quadrupled over the last 12 months. Overall, searches for recycling have increased by 70 percent over the last year.
Given the sums on offer, it is perhaps no surprise that cash-strapped Britons are choosing to make some extra money during the recession by selling their unused mobile phones. But whether its for saving Mother Earth or for a few extra bucks, the end result is all good, not just for that certain person, but for everybody else.
