Project Canvas will help Freesat

The BBC’s iPlayer is undoubtedly an overwhelming success, yet it looks as if the BBC is not content with that and is planning the latest innovation in viewing technology known simply as Project Canvas.

The BBC believes that this latest venture is going to be good for services such as Freesat, as the next generation of set top boxes intended for Freesat services, will also include access to iPlayer technology, to enable the viewing of the content provided by Project Canvas.

However, Project Canvas will be coming via new equipment that will deliver Freesat services to UK households as well.

The equipment will be HD ready, with the Freesat tuner for digital TV services and an Ethernet port for connection to the broadband network and to the canvas services.
