Microsoft gaming enthusiasts who own an Xbox 360 console may be excited to hear that Sky has announced a partnership that allows users to get additional broadband access to video on demand, pay per view, and the typical interactive gaming communities, entirely through the Xbox.
The new Sky player technology will be available to those who have Xboxes in Ireland and the UK if they utilise the Xbox live platform.
A Sky press release said that this will aid users in communicating in real time and allow them to check on-demand information from their Xboxes as an added convenience.
The Xbox and Sky partnership is also expected to provide a wide library of shows across all genres from movies to documentaries to films.
In fact, it also announced it already had the rights to show Band of Brothers which has won a host of awards for its fictional-documentary style of WWII.
Xbox’s head of UK and Ireland, Neil Thompson, said the interactive shows would allow users to communicate via virtual communities, adding to the experience of using Xbox live.
While there has not yet been an official date released, the merger is supposed to be available to Xbox users by this coming fall.
Sky recently also tied in with the Sony PSP III allowing users of Play station also to access Sky content services.
