Mobile VoIP app Truphone 3.0 is now available to iPod Touch users, transforming their MP3 player into a Wi-Fi phone.

Recently launched for the iPhone, Truphone 3.0 offers free Wi-Fi calls to other Truphone users, as well as to contacts who use Skype or GoogleTalk.

The app also integrates with instant messaging (IM) services, including MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and AIM.

Calls to landlines and mobiles can be made to destinations worldwide and are charged at “cheap rates”, Truphone said.

“Following the successful launch of Truphone 3.0 for the iPhone we were keen to follow-up as quickly as possible for all our iPod touch customers,” said Truphone CEO Geraldine Wilson.

“We believe Truphone 3.0 sets a new benchmark in terms of quality and performance.”

Upgrades to version 3.0 include improved voice quality, increased speed and simplicity, and a new display that reveals the cost of making a call before you dial the number.
