ARC International is hoping to bounce back from disappointing sale figures during the start of 2009 with its new Sound-to-silicon solution that was recently announced at the Computex Exhibition in Taiwan.
The solution enables original equipment manufacturers and system on chip (SoC) suppliers to provide consumers with broadcast or Internet TV access on portable devices.
According to ARC International the solution can be used in China, Europe, and the US.
ARC International recently announced that its sales reports from the first half of the year will have experienced a year-on-year drop due to the market, but with the aid of the new OEM solutions the outlook may shine brighter in the next half of 2009.
ARC’s new CEO, Geoff Bristow, said that the low sales figures show a need for the company to take action and with the promising response to the solutions in Taiwan the company may be moving o the right track.
Senior analyst, Ben Barjain of Creative Strategies, said that with the gradual switch in many major counties to all digital TV broadcasting, the Mobile DTV market is set to grow at a rapid pace.
He added that by 2013 mobile and DTV services are expected to attract about five million viewers, thus ARC are aimed for success with their new solution.
Among the many perks of the new ARC solutions is Sonic Focus which allows audio to run 50% quicker for applications that are embedded and an IB subsystem that can be configured, known as the AS 211 FX, that allows of 30% less battery consumption.
The solutions also allow for developers of software to make their own compatible software API component, due to the open Media Software Framework.
