Setanta board discusses the options

The board of the struggling satellite sports broadcaster, Setanta, has been meeting to discuss if there is any future for the business.

Yesterday it was announced that Deloitte has been lined up to take the company into administration.

It would seem that today is going to be the last day of Setanta as we know it.

Once the decision is made to allow the administrators into the business then the future looks uncertain and could have consequences for other broadcasters.

The broadcaster has missed a £3 million payment to the SPL, but that is nothing when compared to the £35 million that is almost due to be paid the Football Association.

It is a shame to see this happen, but it seems that the writing is now on the wall for Setanta Sports.
