Free PC and Broadband may not encourage users

It seems that the government’s plans to get every household connected to the broadband network may never happen and it has nothing to do with the government’s broadband for all plan either.

In a recent study conducted by the regulator Ofcom, it was found that almost half of the households that are currently without a broadband connection, or to be more precise any internet connection at all, would not be persuaded to get broadband, even if they were to be given a free computer and broadband access.

It is estimated that around seventeen million adults are currently offline, which is thirty per cent of the population of the UK.

However, out of this group around twenty per cent intend to be connected, while the rest are divided into two groups, those that do not want the internet and those who cannot afford a PC and Broadband connection.
