Exterity this week launched a new IPTV encoder that allows photos, DVD videos and Satellite TV to be streamed over an internal IP network.

The Exterity IPTV Encoder encodes content in the MPEG-2 format, and supports widescreen encoding on the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Households and businesses using the encoder can stream content from a digital camera, satellite set-top box or DVD player as a channel on the building’s IP network, to be viewed using an IPTV receiver or a networked PC.

Inputs supported by the encoder include RGBS video, composite and S-Video inputs using phono, and S-Video connectors.

“Our new IPTV encoder provides a flexible, low cost and efficient means for organisations to stream high quality TV around a building,” said Colin Farquhar, Exterity CEO.

“It was developed in response to customer demand for a product capable of supporting a variety of video inputs and an impressive widescreen aspect ratio.”

He added that the encoder’s low energy consumption makes it “environmentally friendly”.
