Half of broadband users happy with service

On the day the long awaited Digital Britain report is due to be published, it is useful to find that over half of the UK’s broadband customers are happy with the speed that they are getting from their internet service provider.

But in contrast, according to a survey conducted by the comparison site uswitch.com, almost seven million households said they would like a faster connection.

The same survey found that only three per cent of broadband customers who signed up for an up to 8 Mbps broadband service actually achieve speeds approaching that level.

The government is committed to providing every home and small business in the UK with a minimum broadband service of 2 Mbps, and the Digital Britain report is expected to outline how this is going to be achieved.
