HP integrates Fortify Software into Security Centre
by David Masters
HP business customers are to be protected with security solutions from Fortify Software following a partnership agreement between the two companies.
HP’s Application Security Centre will now integrate Fortify 360’s Static Application Security Testing (SAST) technology, giving enterprise users extra visibility into application security.
The software gives businesses a real-time dashboard view of application security scanning efforts across their IT systems.
Businesses using the software can create a detailed application inventory of all enterprise software, assign risk profiles to each application, and develop security policies appropriate to the risks identified.
John M. Jack, Fortify Software CEO, said the technology will help businesses “better assess and manage the overall risk to their business” whilst reducing IT security costs.
Recent research by the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) found that 92% of exploitable vulnerabilities are in software applications, with cyber attacks increasingly targeting the application layer.
HP’s move to integrate Fortify Software demonstrates the growing awareness of the need to build security protection into application quality assurance processes, rather than security being seen as a separate issue.
