Google Maps to display money-off vouchers
by David Allen
Visitors to Google Maps will soon be able to see the best money-off deals offered by local businesses following an agreement between Google and voucher search engine BView.
Any vouchers created by local businesses at BView.co.uk will automatically feature on Google Maps – giving a highly visible web presence to firms that are often invisible online.
With most consumers spending £4 out of every fiver within ten miles of their home, this increased visibility could prove vital to local firms struggling through the recession.
“Google is the first major search engine to recognise the need for consumers to save money while supporting local businesses,” said BView CEO Brad Liebmann.
The economic downturn has caused an explosion of interest in money off vouchers, with the number of voucher downloads from BView increasing tenfold in the last six months.
Founded in 2008, BView is the UK’s largest voucher search engine.
