UK ISP accidently blocks torrent sites
by David Allen

Customers of Be Broadband could be forgiven for thinking that their internet service provider is blocking torrent sites, especially following the government’s Digital Britain report where the subject of piracy featured.
Naturally, finding that a site is blocked will set alarm bells ringing for users, especially when the sites include The Pirate Bay, Mininova and Torrentz.
It turns out that the ISP is not intentionally blocking any of these sites at all, in fact Be Broadband is not the only provider that has been hit with this problem.
Apparently, according to a Be Broadband spokesperson, there is an issue affecting some IP ranges, with some networks based in Scandinavia.
It is this problem that is creating the block and, as many of the torrent sites are based in that region, this is the reason behind the problem.

It is much easier to solve the Torrent issue by Asymmetric Billing.
