127 million LCD TVs will sell this year?
Due to the increase in sales in developed markets for flat screen TVs and the new Chinese stimulus spending programme, the growth rate of Global LCD TVs is anticipated to increase by about 21% this year, according to a new statement by DisplaySearch.

DisplaySearch released the report on Friday, stating that by the end of 2009 an estimated 127 million units will be purchased, which is much higher than both the total sales last year of 105 million and the original projection for 2009 of 120 million.

In fact, LCD TVs will reach up to 63% of all global TV shipments this year if the projections are accurate.

Part of the reason for the increase in sales may also lie in the fact that markets are making the switch from CRT to LCD faster than anticipated.

However, there are a few problems that may cause the projection to decline by about 6% of this figure, such as price erosion and the fact that many consumers are heading to mass discount chains such as Wall-Mart Stores Inc as the economy stays down.

Overall, global TV shipments are expected to decline by approximately 3% due to the shaky global economy and the rise of unemployment.

Some of the major LCD TV companies include SonyCorp based in Japan, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd based in South Korea, and Vizio Inc based in the USA.

I cant wait to buy the 55 vizio’s led hdtv. There has been so much hype about how vizio’s new line comes with backlit led technology, with superior local dimming to boost picture quality.
