Livestation helps with refugee broadcasts

Livestation is now broadcasting the plight of people who are refugees, in a joint effort with the United Nations refugee agency (UNCHR), to help raise awareness of how many refugees there are currently in the world, who need urgent help.

The UNCHR is using the channel to broadcast appeals for aid to people in the UK, by showing the personal stories of many of the refugees, who are at the most desperate flash points in areas around the globe.

Livestation decided to air the appeals from the UCHR due to the fact that World Refugee day is coming up on June 20th.

On this particular date the UNCHR attempts to raise awareness and funds for countries that have a particularly high amount of refugees including Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan, Iran, Chad, and Sudan.

The station is attempting to provide clear factual information about refugees in the world since many people are not aware of the struggle and danger that many people are faced with on a daily basis.

CEO of Levitation, Matteo Belucchi, commented that since Livestation already has many news programs that tell the stories of those in the crossfire, it only made sense to add the UCHR programming to it to help raise awareness of what happens after people flee the situation.

News of the new programming from the UNCHR may make it to a broader audience, given that the new Livestation app will is set to be released to the iPhone after a slight delay.

The channel is actually the BBC World News channel and is available for €7.99 but is distributed under the Livestation brand and will be offered soon in most European countries.
