SeaChange International and Smart Digivision have been honoured at the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards 2009 for their innovative consumer service titled MyWay IPTV.
The MyWay service was developed by Smart Digivision and focuses on offering personal TV apps and on-demand offerings while using the professional offerings and digital video systems of SeaChange.
The new MyWay product was first launched across India.
MyWay received the “Consumer Service Innovation” award in London at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in front of chief executive officers and technology officers from many of the top technological countries such as Europe, India, North and South America, and China.
SmartDigivision is planning to spread MyWay IPTV across India with a goal of reaching three million subscribers by using the BSNL and MTNL broadband networks in conjunction with middleware from SeaChange’s TV navigator.
The main features of MyWay IPTV include on demand DVDs, 150 broadcast television channels, music and games, the ability to pause live TV, and email convergence services.
COO Kapil Dev Kumar of Smart Digivision stated that the goal of the company is to increase the market for IPTV across India and said the company is proud to receive the honour as it brings recognition to the advancing media market in India.
The company will begin to extend MyWay in Delhi where it has already contracted to offer the MyWay IPTV service in 54 of the surrounding cities with final agreement already reached with MTNL.
It is attempting to secure the same contracts with BSNL but is competing with SDPL which offers the same type of IPTV services and is also looking for an exclusive contract.
MyWay will cost about 2,000RS for all installation costs and subscription costs for three months and afterwards consumers can purchase prepaid plans that cost between 200Rs and 280Rs per month.
