
The FA had given the satellite sports broadcaster Setanta until Friday to come up with the money that it owes for covering the live Premier League matches.
Over the weekend it has become apparent that no payments have been made and so the FA has made the decision to auction off the Setanta package of forty-six live games.
With a only around eight weeks before the start of the 2009/10 FA Premier League season, broadcasters have until the end of today to get their bids in.
With such little time available it would seem that Sky Sports may be the net winner out of this saga.
There are twenty six Monday night matches available, which would fit into the Sky Sports schedule and would take it to the limit under EU rules.
