Help with VoIP over Wi-Fi for Blackberry

Agito Networks has recently reworked its mobile unified communications service to offer users VoIP over Wi-Fi on mobile Blackberry devices.

Agito has been able to expand its RoamAnywhere Mobility Router to include the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the Curve models of 8900, 8800, and 8300.

However the Blackberry Storm models are not part of the list of compatible phones, as they do not have Wi-Fi.

Before the expansion, Blackberry users missed out on the cost benefits of being able to use UC via Wi-Fi, rather than a cellular network.

According to the vice president of marketing for Agito, Pejman Roshan, Blackberry users who take advantage of the new RoamAnywhere plan can now access features such as conference call, transfer, and email, and can also retrieve past phone calls.

Additional features of the plan also include international roaming, direct dialling, lower routing costs, call back capabilities, SIM swap, and new calling perimeters.

The new UC system is currently being tested via a closed beta study group, but should be available for widespread use and Blackberry users with Agito sometime in the middle of July.

In the past, UC and VoIP services that run via Wi-Fi have only been available to Agito mobile customers who owned a Nokia or Windows Mobile cell phone.

The move to Blackberry is expected to open a world of opportunities to the business clients who favour the Blackberry brand.
