The computer is fast becoming the centre of entertainment, especially for students who are away from home a large part of the time.
However, being away does not necessarily mean that they should be going without those luxuries that they have got used to, such as satellite TV.
Elgato has brought out the EyeTV Sat, a TV tuner that is capable of delivering 1080p HD to a PC or Mac computer.
It has to be connected to a satellite dish, but does not require a satellite TV subscription from a broadcaster such as Sky TV.
The EyeTV Sat connects to the satellite dish in the normal way, but then connects to the computer through the USB port.
The computer will then be able to pick up DVB-S and DVB-S2 transmissions and the user can even record programmes by using the software provided.
The EyeTV Sat from Elgato will be available soon at a cost of around £180.
