The International Telecommunications Union (ITU), a United Nations agency for ICT issues, has given initial approval to a standard that will make it easier for IPTV users to find and consume content.
The recommendation, known as ITU-T H.770, describes the mechanisms for service provider discovery, service discovery and selection.
It will enable IPTV users to locate content from different IPTV providers and subscribe to it.
The ITU expects the standard to widen choice for IPTV users and help service providers offer a more competitive package.
