Dell puts GPS in Mini 10

Computer maker Dell will be putting GPS into its Dell Mini 10 netbooks.

This will allow the owners to use their netbook as a satnav and track their location while on the move.

According to Dell, they are making this service available to customers, simply because the demand is there.

Initially the GPS will only be available in the US and will be one of the extras that customers can choose when they are buying the computer.

Dell has said that it intends to roll this service out to other regions in the future.

The computer will have built in Wi-Fi location technology which can work out the computer’s position using the Wi-Fi access points or GPS satellites.

This information will be used by the CoPilot navigation and Loki open source software to calculate position and offer directions if required to do so.
