The iPhone 3GS may not be the best purchase if you read the comments left by frustrated users on Technology sites and Apple public online forums.
According to the posts some iPhone 3GS’s, the latest iPhone model released June 19th, overheat and even become discoloured after a very short period.
Users have complained the white models turn to a pinkish hue after overheating and other users comment they grow too hot to put to the ear after using the phone on a call for awhile.
Apple responded on their website in the support forum that users should not leave their phones in cars that may get warmer than 45C as both iPhones models are not made to work in extreme heat.
The Apple warning stipulates that if the iPhone is outside of a -20C thru 45C temperature range it is possible it will overheat, refuse to charge, the display will dim, or the user will have poor connection to the network signal.
Additionally, the company added that there is a safety feature built into the iPhone to protect customers which will warn users that the iPhone is in the process of overheating.
Apple says that if you are in the direct sunlight or leave the model in the car and see the warning, the phone should be immediately turned off and allowed to cool.
Another solution is to avoid using applications such as GPS or media downloads for a prolonged period of time in conditions where the iPhone may be in danger of overheating as it is stressful on the machine’s CPU.
