The US satellite and cable broadcaster, ESPN, has announced that it will be launching a new sports channel specifically for the UK’s Premier League football matches, which it has won the rights to air following the collapse of Setanta UK.
The new channel, which will be launched on the 3rd August, will be called surprisingly “ESPN”.
The channel will be showing forty six live matches from the Barclays Premier League which is due to kick off in August.
This new channel will also be showing other sports too, as ESPN holds the rights to a wide range of sporting events, such as American Football, Ice Hockey, Baseball, College Football and Basketball.
These rights also cover European broadcasting, so it is inevitable that some, if not all, of these sports will be shown at some time on the new channel.
