The days of buying a separate digital TV set top box and a Blu-ray player are over, as consumers are now able to buy one machine with both features.

The electronics giant LG has announced that it will be launching the HR400 towards the end of the month.

The HR400 is a Blu-ray DVD player that can stream YouTube videos without being connect to a computer and is a Freeview receiver capable of recording onto the built in hard drive too.

The Blu-ray system is a 1080p full HD that can also upscale older DVDs, while the Freeview recording capability uses a 160 Gb hard drive to store recorded programmes.

Buyers are effectively getting two devices in one with the HR400, but something that could be seen of a sweetener is the addition of YouTube access.

The LG HR400 goes on sale at the end of July at around £350.
