The internet service and phone provider service provider BT has won a £99 million contract with the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
This contract is to support the communications network already in place across 197 military bases in the UK.
BT will be managing the data networks as well as the voice service to an estimated two hundred and fifty thousand buildings and communications rooms.
This deal forms part of a five year on going contract where BT provides the service known as the Defence Fixed Telecommunication Service (DFTS) agreement with the MoD.
According to BT, this service will bring a standardised and predictable service to the MoD.
This will allow it to make faster and more decisive decisions with regards to the communications network.
