China’s online population grows

Despite the Chinese government’s attempt to block certain sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube there has been a huge rise in the amount of internet users in the country.

In fact, current figures estimate there to be around 338 million internet users in China, with forty million joining the revolution during the first six months of the year.

As far as broadband connections go, they rose by around ten million to just over ninety three million, which is massive by anyone’s scale.

But the improvements planned for rural areas are the most significant, with China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom planning on investing around £30 billion in a national 3G network over the next year.

China is embracing the technology in way that could not have been predicted as few years ago.
