BT is attempting to make inroads into the legal music download service that will compete directly with Sky and Virgin Media.
It is believed that BT is in talks with four major record labels about providing top music tracks through a multi platform service including BT Vision, IPTV and of course the internet.
This news comes just as rival Sky completes negotiations with EMI and Sony Music, to complement the services provided by Universal for the Sky version of a similar music download service.
According to a report from Entertainment Media Research and Wiggin the media law firm, nearly half of broadband customers would be willing to pay an extra £2 on top of their current broadband monthly subscription in order to receive music downloads.
