Virgin Media to go with Racing UK

The horse racing and form guide channel, Racing UK TV, is about to end its free ride with satellite broadcaster Sky TV, and the management team has been meeting with broadcasters in order to find a permanent home.

Racing UK TV signed up with Setanta in 2006 and while everything seemed fine, the Irish based satellite channel went bust in the UK on 23 June, at which point Racing UK decided to revert back to being a stand-alone channel.

Since then Racing UK TV has been carried as a free to view channel on Sky, but this will end on the 16th August, when it will start taking subscriptions again.

It looks as if the channel could up being carried by both Virgin Media and Sky. There have been some interesting meetings but no announcement yet.

In a gesture of goodwill, Racing UK TV said that those subscribers that signed with Setanta on an annual contract will be able to view the channel until their next renewal date.
