Broadband postcode lottery for Shropshire residents

The use of the term postcode lottery is normally associated with health and education services, but in the county of Shropshire, residents are calling the broadband service for the county a postcode lottery.

It seems that although the price of broadband remains constant around the county, the actual services provided vary dramatically.

The cost of broadband varies from around £5 to £50 per month, while speeds vary from 2 Mbps to 50 Mbps, and contract lengths vary too.

The most popular service to be taken out by residents of the county is the up-to-20 Mbps premium service with the free wireless router from O2 broadband, which costs £9.79 per month.

In the Shrewsbury area the most popular service in the up-to-8 Mbps package from TalkTalk with a monthly charge of £6.49, although the fastest service in the area is from Eclipse Internet with a connection of up to 24 Mbps.
