The use of the term postcode lottery is normally associated with health and education services, but in the county of Shropshire, residents are calling the broadband service for the county a postcode lottery.
It seems that although the price of broadband remains constant around the county, the actual services provided vary dramatically.
The cost of broadband varies from around £5 to £50 per month, while speeds vary from 2 Mbps to 50 Mbps, and contract lengths vary too.
The most popular service to be taken out by residents of the county is the up-to-20 Mbps premium service with the free wireless router from O2 broadband, which costs £9.79 per month.
In the Shrewsbury area the most popular service in the up-to-8 Mbps package from TalkTalk with a monthly charge of £6.49, although the fastest service in the area is from Eclipse Internet with a connection of up to 24 Mbps.
