South Yorkshire plans for superfast broadband

August 14, 2009

A super fast broadband network for the South Yorkshire region would have many benefits for business in the region, according to the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber feels that super fast broadband would make a lot of difference to local businesses as well as opening up many more opportunities, creating jobs and adding value to the area.

Super fast broadband will be made available through the Digital Region scheme, which was set up to explore and organise localised super fast and reliable broadband networks aimed at small and medium sized businesses.

Around ninety per cent of the regions businesses fall into these categories.

According to the Chamber, around three thousand workers within the creative and digital industries could benefit straight away from the introduction of an advanced broadband network.
