In the future, the UK’s internet service providers may have to start to advertise average broadband speeds instead of simply advertising a service as “Up To”, according to the broadband comparison site top10broadband.
In a recent report from the regulator Ofcom, it was found that on average the speeds obtained by broadband users are only around fifty seven per cent of those advertised by the ISPs.
With the introduction of next gen broadband, speeds in the UK vary from .5 Mbps up to 100 Mbps.
This variance is dependent on where the broadband user lives and not on how much they pay.
A change such as this would assist the broadband consumer in making better choices when it comes to selecting broadband supplier.
