Hull couple pioneer new broadband in Hull

Getting online in Hull means a choice between mobile broadband or fixed line broadband provided by Kcom, but it seems that there could a third option available to the consumers in the city.

Jonathon Gibbins of Lorraine Street has become the first person in Hull to receive a fixed line broadband service from a supplier other than Kcom.

According to Kcom it welcomes the competition but, when it comes in the form of a dedicated service that has the potential to offer 100 Mbps, that is some competition.

The business internet provider One Point IT is providing the broadband service and it just happens that Jonathon Gibbins works for the firm too, so there was no big issue when it came to the installation.

The installation works in a similar way to cable or Sky TV.

The cable is fed directly into the home from a small device fitted to the outside of the building.
