Demand for broadband holding in the UK

Despite the current financial situation, it seems that the demand for broadband was still on the increase during the first six months of the year.

According to Point Topic, the demand for broadband is growing at a reasonable rate, in fact during the first half of the year around 445,000 new broadband subscriptions in the UK were seen.

This takes the total number of UK broadband subscribers to 17.8 million.

These figures actually out do the predictions for broadband growth by over 100,000 on the year and, as a result, Point Topic has revised its figures to 900,000 new broadband connections for the year, which is around 240,000 more than previously estimated.

Yet there are still nine million households that are unable to get broadband and although the government is putting in £12 million to connect these households, is that going to be enough?
