Pierre-Jean Sebert the former managing director of Eurosport UK is to be appointed as the new CEO of the video on demand (VoD) service from Arqiva.
Arqiva’s VoD has been developed using the infrastructure of the old Project Kangaroo – that found it hard to be sanctioned by the competition commission and so was shelved by the project’s partners, which included the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
The technology has now been fully acquired by Arqiva from UKVOD LLP and Arqiva will soon begin to build the model needed to provide a fully interactive VoD service to the public.
However, there is plenty of competition on the internet now targeting the UK as a potential marketplace for video on demand services.
Recently MSN launched its own video player, funded through advertising.
