Tufin Technologies released a report that details the “hacking habits” of most hackers, after conducting a survey among 79 hackers at the Defcon hacking conference held in Vegas during August
According to the report, hackers are least likely to attack computers during the summer holiday, but the downside is that they amp up their efforts come the holiday seasons of Christmas and New Year.
Out of the hackers polled, 89% reported that they were less likely to attack during the summer holiday, but 81% revealed that they get busy come winter.
An additional 56% listed Christmas as the best time to hack into corporate computers and another 25% reported New Year’s Eve is the best time.
Michael Hamelin, Tufin Technologies’ chief security architect, said that among security experts it’s a known fact that the winter holidays are a popular time for hackers looking to break into computer networks in the western world.
He continued to say the reason why is because they are aware that people are more relaxed during the holiday season and most organisations have a smaller staff team on hand during the holidays.
In general, the report showed that 52% of hackers strike on weekday evenings versus any other time of the day.
During work hours 32% attack and only 15% attack on the weekends.
Apparently hackers like to take the weekend off as well.
In other Tufin news, the company recently partnered with the J-Partner Program provided by Juniper Networks that allows end users more access to end solutions.
The partnership is meant to solidify Tufin’s status as a security company that can offer comprehensive solutions for security problems.
