With much talk about the government’s plans for broadband for all, it seems that there are plenty of places where broadband is not an option.
According to the Scottish Household Survey, it has been found that just over half of the households in the region actually have access to a broadband connection.
The survey found that although sixty per cent of households have access to the internet, only fifty four per cent of those that answered the survey have a broadband connection.
It has also been found that in certain areas regarded as being affluent, ninety per cent of homes have a broadband connection, whereas at the other end of the scale only twenty seven per cent of those households in deprived areas have access to the broadband network.
