Sky man favourite for ITV top job

The former boss of BSkyB, Tony Ball, has emerged from being an outsider to being an unlikely frontrunner in the race for the top job at ITV.

While at Sky he built a reputation as being someone who had a no nonsense attitude to work and the business, and these types of skills are exactly what ITV could be doing with, as they are facing some very tough times ahead.

It seems that following the withdrawal of Simon Fox, the chief exec of HMV, the only other choice is the boss of Apple Europe, Pascal Cagni, who has not had any experience in the running of an organisation like ITV, so Tony Ball has found his path to ITV being cleared of all competition.

At the end of the day, the experience of running BSkyB has to sit well for Tony Ball, although this search has been running for so long that if it were started all over again nobody would probably notice.
