ITV1 to get timeshift channel

Digital satellite viewers will soon be able to take advantage of the main ITV channel, ITV1, getting a one hour timeshift channel.

Timeshifting is a very useful idea that allows broadcasters to double up programming, with one channel being delayed by an hour, which allows the viewer to plan around the crowded TV schedules in order not to miss any of their favourite shows.

ITV+1 will be launched on the 1st October on digital satellite and Virgin Media digital cable TV services, but it will only be on the air from 10.25 pm to 7 am, with GMTV not being timeshifted at all.

ITV+1 will not be available in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands regions as these are not part of ITV Plc.
