Thales has added a new SafeSign item to its line that addresses ID management and authentication, the new SafeSign Single Sign On.
The new offering allows organisations to sign on simply without sacrificing security or raising the costs of their help desks.
Simplified access is delivered by the SafeSign Single Sign On system via a onetime authentication at the beginning of a user’s session.
Actual authentication logon polices can be varied and tailored to meet the different requirements of various businesses.
Additionally, the service can be tailored for use with different user groups within the same company with different types of authentication and strengths for various groups such as PKI smart cards, static passwords, USB tokens, and one time password tokens.
One of the perks of using the SafeSign Sign On is that users only need to remember one identity credential instead of various sets of passwords, which should reduce the amount of time that help desks or IT teams spend troubleshooting the problems associated with lost or forgotten passwords.
With the simplified login approach the system is also designed to allow for security policies to be consistently applied throughout an organisation.
In other news, Thales announced this week that it received a £20m contract from Singapore Kinetics Ltd to provide UK equipment for more than 100 Warthog all terrain vehicles.
Among the equipment that Thales will provide for the armoured vehicles are communication tools, additional armour, and electronic countermeasure equipment.
