According to a mobile broadband industry expert, there will be around seven billion mobile broadband subscribers in less than five years time.
At the moment there are an estimated four billion mobile phone users, and this is expected to grow by a further three billion over the next five years.
However, this growth could mean that some users have multiple phones, according to Hans Vestberg, the chief financial officer and chief executive officer-elect of Ericsson.
This demonstrates some serious growth on a global scale, with not only mobile phones being used more, but the take up of mobile broadband also on the increase, which shows how important mobile technology is going to be.
At the moment mobile broadband users tend use the service when a fixed line connection is not available.
