BSkyB looking at Digital+

September 14, 2009

It was only year that BSkyB pulled out from looking at the Italian based digital pay TV service Digital+.

The decision not to take things further was because of the channel’s owner, Sogec able’s valuation, which was simply too high.

Now it seems that a three horse race has started looking at Digital+ once more and it seems that this time a deal is set to be done.

Telefonica from Spain and the Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi’s, Mediaset have joined BSkyB to take the Italian based Digital+.

Mediaset and BSkyB have had their moments or rather it should be that Silvio Berlusconi and Rupert Murdoch are old hands at the digital TV game, with a battle royale taking place when the Italian government introduced an increase in VAT on Sky Italia, which is owned by News Corp.
