Amino Communications, the set top box maker based in Cambridge, UK, has agreed a deal with the US-based Pioneer Telephone Cooperative to supply high definition set top boxes.
According to Amino Communications, the deal means that it will be supplying Pioneer with a significant amount of equipment that will be capable of offering over 161 channels of pay-TV content.
The A130 and A130M set top boxes will also provide the user with other services, such as broadband and mobile internet, for an estimated fifty thousand customers.
This deal follows the decision by Pioneer to switch its middleware provider too, but according to the set top box maker, it has the experience of integrating over eighty different systems so far.
This is good news for the UK set top box business in the face of serious competition from abroad.
