The team behind Project Canvas is looking to make the service available for all, no matter where they are located in the world, with the launch of a kit that third parties can use to develop the system from next year.
It looks like they are going to attempt to do for online TV, what Apple has done with the iPhone for internet on the move, according to the director of the service, Richard Halton.
The only difference is that while developers have to pay Apple to use the service and hand over a share of the royalties, Project Canvas is going to be open source and will therefore be creating opportunities for developers to expand their services through the platform.
The amount of different services available through Project Canvas are virtually limitless and therefore ideal for new ideas.
