For a long time Kingston Communications (KCOM) has been the top provider of broadband services in Hull, in fact it is the only broadband provider in many parts of Hull and as such has left consumers disappointed in the service.
However, it seems that this may not be an issue for much longer as the fibre optic broadband provider FibreStream is in talks with the MP for Hull North, Diana Johnson and with the regulator Ofcom.
Both public and private meeting have been held with residents and the owners of small businesses in the area, with the hot topic being the areas where KCOM has no direct competition.
FibreStream has been working around the edges of the KCOM controlled areas, and has already established a viable broadband service under the heading NextGenUs, which appears to be looking to provide services of up to 100 Mbps.
