With BT Openreach rolling out its fibre optic broadband at two test sites, the question of cost is being considered as a factor in how far this rollout will go.
However, another trial is planned to take place at Highams Park in London, which could involve up to forty thousand households.
This trial is for the Generic Ethernet Access, Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) service that could provide the user with a downlink of a 100 Mbps and an uplink of 10 Mbps.
So how much is this going to cost the internet service providers?
According to an announcement on the BT Openreach website, the cost is likely to be between £175 and £255 per year per customer.
