Scotland’s rural areas to get broadband upgrade

It seems that not all governments are sitting on their hands when it comes to providing a better broadband service.

The Scottish government has listened to the people and decided to do something about the poor broadband service in the region’s rural areas.

In order to put this into practice, the government has called on BT to help out and improve the standard of internet access in the most remote areas of Scotland.

BT will begin to upgrade the local phone exchanges in these remote areas as the first step to increasing the broadband capacity to some areas where broadband isn’t currently available.

This is an ideal situation for BT to trial its Broadband Enabling Technology (BET), which can provide broadband over longer distances than previously possible.
