Five brings live football to the Apple iPhone

Channel Five is set to release an iPhone app which will allow users to watch the UEFA Europa League matches it has bought the rights to.

Starting with tomorrow night’s clash between Celtic and Rapid Vienna, the app will stream live coverage of all Five’s Thursday night fixtures throughout the tournament, which will run through 2009 to 2010. Weekly highlights will also be offered.

The service will work via wi-fi or 3G, and will cost £3.99.
