Amazon’s Kindle 2, the e-book reader which has been available for some time in the States, is rumoured to be coming to the UK shortly.
This month, in fact, as The Bookseller reports that trusted sources have indicated that Amazon will “announce the arrival” of the Kindle in October.
That doesn’t necessarily mean the device will be available to buy in the next couple of weeks, just that the launch will be confirmed. We shall see…
One source told The Bookseller: “The key things they needed to tie up have been tied up. The rumours I’ve heard are all saying next week.”
The news comes as students trialling the device in the US at Princeton University criticised the Kindle for being rather clumsy and slow, specifically when it comes to making notes and highlighting passages of text.
