IT Industry will drive six million new jobs by 2013

A study compiled by research company IDC claims that the expanding IT industry will create as many as 5.8 million jobs worldwide by 2013.

The report, which was sponsored by Microsoft and incorporated 52 different countries, indicated that the IT sector will play an important role in lifting the global economy out of its current gloom.

The six million jobs will be accompanied by an estimated 75000 new IT businesses springing up by 2013, most of which will be small firms.

Job creation at this rate represents a growth of 3% per year over the next four years, triple the rate of the growth of total employment.

As far as the British employment market is concerned, the study said that 78000 IT jobs would spring up in the UK, and 2500 businesses.

Let’s hope so, as we need all the good news we can get on the job front at the moment.
