BT’s broadband push unlikely to stir rival firms

When BT announced that it would be putting in more cash into the deployment of next generation broadband services, naturally it was hoped that this would spring the other internet service providers into action too.

But one industry expert is suggesting that is not going to happen.

According to ispreview.co.uk the fact that BT made this announcement is not going to make any difference to the plans of other ISPs, as they are more likely to continue with the strategies already in place.

This is bad news for the UK as a whole, because the way that BT worded this announcement could have given encouragement to those households where broadband access is limited or in some cases nonexistent.

The situation is worse for rural areas as these are always going to be the last to get any upgrades and yet these are the areas that could benefit the most from any investment.
